Wednesday Tip: Improve the AI accuracy

DEVONthink Mood ControlDEVONthink is based from the ground up on artificial intelligence (AI). And like with natural intelligence the results it delivers is based on a variety of parameters. With DEVONhink 2.0 public beta 4 we have added more control over how the AI behaves. To improve the predictability of the AI results, open DEVONthink’s Preferences, General tab, and adjust the Mood slider from “Moody” to “Stable” (see the picture to the right). Choose the setting that best fits your needs.

I am using the german version of DevonThink Pro Office 2.0 pb 4. Under “Einstellungen” – “Allgemein” there is no slider at all?!

  2. Andrew Scott says:

I’m using the English version of 2.0pb4 and there’s no slider visible either in Preferences/General. How confusing.

  3. Andrew-Bede Allsop says:

No slider on my 2.0pb4, is this possibly a April 1st. Joke?

  4. Steve Hodgson says:

It’s now after midday (at least here in the UK) so I would like to request that this feature is available on days other than 1st April 🙂

  5. Lee says:

Perhaps the slider’s set to “sulk”? 🙂

  6. “Stable”
    Now it works fine. 😉

  7. Jorge says:

    No slider here either.

  8. Haimar Staib says:

Ok, after fiddling around in the preferences I finally found the ai mood slider. It was hidden behind the date field – arghhh…

  9. Maggot says:

Me neither. But can you also expand a little on what effect stable and moody have? By more “predictable”, do you mean more conservative, less likely to return wild but possibly interesting results?

Also also, what does “retain view” mean?

    Thanks, folks.

    Robert

  10. Eric says:

@Maggot: “Moody” will definitely return interesting results. Or no results at all. Sometimes. Depends on the mood, just as it says. “Stable” is more conservative, maybe even a bit bourgeois, but in this setting DEVONthink never makes nasty comments about your new haircut behind your back.

  11. Christophe says:

Running the French version of 2.0pb4 and no AI mood slider in the General tab either.
Could you please tell us more how to reveal this secret setting?
    Thank you!

  12. Maggot says:

Eric – nobody makes nasty comments about my hair behind my back. I don’t have any from that direction.

    Cheers

No mood in my General tab or date field

Where is the “date field”? I cannot find the slider nor the “date field”.

    John

  15. Eric says:

@John: Please check your system date and time. The Mood slider is a date-specific control and only available once a year, always on April 1st. Please check today’s date, then try again 😉

  16. Maggot says:

Ha! You certainly had me there! Like all great jokes – it was the kind of thing that might have been true… see, it’s exactly because we know you so well, Eric, that we believed you were really wacky enough to do this…

  17. Christophe says:

    Aaargh! I have been deceeeeeeeived.
Bad boy and good hoax or vice versa.
