DEVONthink’s extended beta period

Some people wonder and speculate abour why we have set the expiration date of the latest DEVONthink and DEVONnote public beta to end of December 2009 and not, as before, only two months ahead to end of September. The reason is NOT that we are planning to extend the public beta phase in general. It is simply to give more time to download the next beta or the final release without getting locked out of their database before they were able to use the automatic updater.

We have not changed our schedule. Features still to be added are full PDF annotations and tagging as well as some user interface polishing but no more.

Finally a word about the public beta status of DEVONthink and DEVONnote: Both applications are more than stable enough for use in production. But they are still missing the promised features named above. As soon as these are inplemented the ‘beta’ label will be removed.
