Tuesday Tip: Automate DEVONthink using Hazel

Two weeks ago I have written about how to turn any folder into a hot folder by attaching “Folder Action Scripts” such as the mentioned “Import, OCR & Delete” one. A user sent us the tip that one could also use Noodlesoft’s Hazel for this, too. Hazel is a System Preferences pane that can run a large number of filing and cleaning task automatically and in the background. It can also run Automator workflows and so it is possible to make an Automator workflow that takes files, imports them into the inbox of DEVONthink Pro Office and then runs the “OCR items” action with them. Of course, the workflow could even contain more steps, for example attaching a label, naming the document, and moving the original file to the trash.

I created the following Automator workflow:

It works, but it does NOT trash the original files after importing them. Any ideas about how to modify it?

    Thanks

Hey Alex, can you repost the Automator workflow you created for importing files into DT?

Sorry, I gave up on that and trashed the file (it was 6 months ago).
