DEVONthink 2.5.1 corrects some bugs

Last week we have released DEVONthink and DEVONnote 2.5 introducing our new technology that lets you keep the same database on all your Macs and always up to date. Today we have published the first minor update to version 2.5.1 with some important bug fixes for all four editions. Update your copy using the menu command Check for Updates in the app’s main menu or download a fresh one from our Download page.

  2. Harold says:

Sorry.. the malfunction is reported to DevonThink Office Pro

  3. Ravexave says:

Will this update repair the sync bug to Devonthink To Go? What are the minor improvements?

  4. eboehnisch says:

@ Ravexave: Yes, this repairs the problem with DEVONthink To Go syncing. The complete release notes are on the product page or are shown when you use the update function within the app.

  5. Kyle says:

Is there any way to sync DTTG automatically without going through the slightly cumbersome manual sync process? Through Dropbox or some other method? This would be a great update!

  6. Ara says:

I am planning to buy Deventhink pro Office .
one quick question, If I buy a new mac by summer, can I remove the app from my current mac and install it on the new one?

  7. Dormanw says:

At first, I thought 2.5.1 had solved the To Go syncing problem, but I have since discovered a number of new issues, most seriously that each time I initiate a sync my IPad and IPhone treats it as if the database were being synced for the first time and it takes much, much longer to complete.

  8. eboehnisch says:

@ Kyle: In version 2.0 which is in the works (but not ready for release yet).

  9. eboehnisch says:

@ Ara: Sure, no problem at all. Just trash it on your old Mac, copy your databases to your new machine, and install it from our website on your new Mac.

  10. eboehnisch says:

@ Dormanw: With fixing one issue we introduced a new one in 1.2.9. We’re working on it for 1.3.0 which is basically on its way to Apple. Besides, version 2.0 will use our new sync code (in the works but not ready for release yet).

we can no longer access our web server database documents on via the web browser…we keep getting a request for a user name and password even after entering the user name and password for the web server and the database file…this never happened before…

  12. eboehnisch says:

@ Nigel Spier: Have you updated to version 2.5.1? Please check.

  13. Carolin says:

Syncing seems to stop whenever the machine goes into sleep mode. Is there a way to make it resume automatically?

  14. eboehnisch says:

@ Carolin: Sync automatically tries to resume when you sync the next time. If not: please contact our support with a detailed description of the problem. Thanks.

Somewhere between DTO Pro 2.4.x and DTO Pro 2.5.1 importing PDFs using File > Import > Images (with OCR)… no longer preserves the file name from the file system. No matter which option is selected in Preferences, DTO Pro 2.5.1 names imported PDF’s based on their title. This is a major problem for workflows based on bulk importing where the naming work occurs outside DTO Pro. Any fixes in sight?
