DEVONthink 2.9.9 imports notes from Apple Notes

DEVONthink importing notes from Apple NoteIf you’re an Apple Notes user but would like to move completely to DEVONthink and DEVONthink To Go now, this update is for you. DEVONthink 2.9.9 adds an option for importing notes and attachments from Apple Notes. It honors the folder structure in Apple Notes and uses formatted notes to preserve formatting in a future-proof format.

But that’s, of course, not all. We’ve rewritten the fullscreen text editing and made importing UNIX email mailboxes with DEVONthink Pro Office easier. Version 2.9.9 comes with an improved synchronization too. On the macOS Sierra bugfixing side, DEVONthink is again able to display encrypted PDFs on macOS Sierra. PDF note annotations are visible once more, and the border of text annotations can be removed. The updates also fix issues related to scanning as well as further minor glitches.

DEVONnote also received some love with the better fullscreen text handling, minor usability enhacements, and improved overall reliability.

We recommend these free updates to all users. Get them directly by using the apps’ update function or our Download page. If you purchased them in the Mac App Store you’ll receive them as soon as they’ve passed Apple’s review.

  1. […] Yesterday’s DEVONthink update to version 2.9.9 unfortunately contained a bug causing synchronizing with Dropbox to fail. We’ve just released a bugfix update that fixes the issue. The bug did not cause any data loss. Please update by using the apps’ update function or by vising our Download page. […]

Hi there. I tested the Notes import. Result:
    – attachments are placed in a seperate map named Attachments
    – they are not visible in the note
    – no option to choose which folder to import: only import of all notes.
I use Evernote and Notes for quick notes, and archive them in DVthProOff.
For now, the Evernote import does all the actions I describe above in the right way. Choosing which folder to import and which not. Graphics stay within the note.

Please fix, that would be great.
    Kind regards,
    Peter.

    Hi there,

great feature – I was actually looking for exactly that!
But when I look into my actual DVthProOff, I can’t see the option for Apple notes – I am running 10.10.5 – is this feature only available with 10.11 upwards aka the newer notes format ?
    Thanks!

  4. @Augenmensch: That’s correct, it requires macOS 10.11 and up.

You need to specify which platform you are talking about.

How you do it would be nice.

I do not see the option in Devon think To Go iOS version.

There is no option in DEVONthink To Go 2. Indeed, you can only import a single note at a time via the Share Extension in Notes.
