DEVONthink To Go 2.5 Security Settings

We know that you care about your privacy. But we also know that from time to time you hand your iPhone or iPad to friends or colleagues. Which means that they could, in an unattented moment, open DEVONthink To Go and have a look at your databases. With its new app-wide passcode version 2.5 makes sure that they can’t.

Optionally use Face ID or Touch ID instead of typing your passcode over and over. You can also set how long before the app will lock while in the background so you can work without interruption.

Other enhancements in version 2.5 are new automation URL commands for you Workflow enthusiasts, better Spotlight support, and more reliable synchronization on the local network. The update improves the CPU usage and battery consumption of the synchronization, too, is more compatible to some WebDAV servers, and fixes issues related to the Files app integration.

We recommend this free update to all users. Update your copy through the App Store app or receive the update automatically, depending on your App Store settings.

This is fantastic. Is there a way to put a passcode or biometric auth on a specific database, as opposed to the whole app?

Further – any updates on the desktop app? It’s been in 2.9.xx stage for quite a long time. Is there a bigger update coming?

  2. No, we’re afraid. We thought through all scenarios and the UI would become convoluted, especially on iPad where the sidebar and the detail view could hold items from different databases.

This is a great upgrade to DTTG — thanks for the continued evolution of this terrific app.

  4. @ Hankk: Thank you, and you’re most welcome!
