DEVONthink 2.9.7: More Sierra fixes and other improvements

DEVONthink 2.9.7 scanning interfacemacOS Sierra 10.12.2 will soon be knocking at the door. DEVONthink 2.9.7, which we have released today, addresses further PDF issues related to Sierra (but does not fix them all; they’re just too many).

Both DEVONthink and DEVONnote 2.9.7 improve auto-saving, RTFD attachments show their size, and the Reveal contextual menu command is available for local smart groups too. In addition, DEVONthink 2.9.7 adds support for OmniOutliner 5 files and commands for inserting checkboxes into HTML-based documents. The scanning user interface has been completely overhauled as well. As always, the updates fix a few other issues, too, and improve the overall reliability.

We recommend these free updates to all users. Get the new Mac versions directly by using the apps’ update function or our Download page.

Great to know you are working on the PDFs bugs — is there a list of the current bugs under Sierra (with or without using DEVONthink) and the current status? I am heavily invested in PDFs and (given that my notebook dies soon) will have to use macOS Sierra soon. You mentioned there are too many, so an overview would be nice.

BTW, is OmniOutliner already version 5?

  2. @ Daniel: No, only the known issues in DEVONthink’s release notes. StackOverflow & Co. are full with bug descriptions (an no solutions) but we’re coming along nicely. We just don’t know if we can solve them all from our side. — OmniOutliner 5 is in beta test.

Upgrading to Sierra disabled the Mail plug-in. Is it on the radar, i.e. will there been an update to the Mail plug-in?

  4. @ Gunnar: Just like with every major macOS/OS X release. Install it again from the DEVONthink Pro Office > Install Add-Ons menu inside of DEVONthink Pro Office.
