DEVONthink 2.9.11: New declutter web service and more

Clip to DEVONthink with "Use clutter-free layout" optionTwo weeks ago Instapaper silently made their public API available only to logged-in users. If you are one of the DEVONthink users whose workflow relied on Instapaper here’s the fix release for you. DEVONthink 2.9.11 now uses our own Markdownifier web service for decluttering clipped web pages and articles and so removes the dependency on a third-party service.

That not being enough, version 2.9.11 improves sharing notes from Apple Notes to DEVONthink and makes notes imported from Evernote independent from their mothership. It’s never been easier to make the switch. And if you’re a Bookends user you’ll like that you can now Command-Shift-drag multiple references from Bookends 12.7.7 or later over to DEVONthink.

And there’s even more for all editions of DEVONthink as well as for DEVONnote. More about the updates on our news page.

We recommend these free updates to all users. Get them directly by using the apps’ update function or our Download page. If you purchased them in the Mac App Store you’ll receive them as soon as they’ve passed Apple’s review.

Oh my gosh, i LOVE the new ‘use clutter-free layout’ functionality of the Clipper! Very effective implementation; very well done. I’m not missing the old Instapaper functionality AT ALL. Thank-you!

  2. Bob Sprague says:

Excellent work! I like your work on “clutter free” better than previous version. Sometimes it’s better when you “roll your own.” Look forward to discovering other gems in this update. I’m a long time user of DTPO and with DTTG 2.0 and other improvements I’m free to away from Evernote. “All in” with DTPO.

    Again, thank you.

  3. Panagiotis Andronikidis says:

The safari clip is working very well with the new decluter when we are talking about text, but is not working in websites like youtube when you want to catch a video. When we were using the instapaper service it was working with video too. We get in the DT database only the video.
I am looking forward in arrange that too.

Will there be a “clutter free layout”-version in DTTG instead of Instapaper?

  5. @ darwin: Yes, with the very next update.

  6. Andrew Coyne says:

It would be nice if the Markdownifier were available to de-clutter pages that had previously been clipped and saved, via some sort of button or keystroke.

  7. Andrew Coyne says:

While I’ve got you — some sort of integration with Safari Reader would also be great.

  8. @ Andrew Coyne: Thank you for the idea. Noted. Regarding integration with Safari Reader: That’s proprietary to Safari and there’s no way to access it properly from the outside. And we’re not even talking about iOS.
