DEVONthink To Go 2.1.7: Usability and automation enhancements

Version 2.1.7 of DEVONthink To Go has just passed Apple’s review. It adds an option to clear the global inbox and makes the grid view available on all devices. The grid view lets you browse your document collection with larger previews and organize them with drag-and-drop, similar to the announced iOS 11. You activate the grid view by tapping the item count button of a group or by swiping right.

The update also improves the decluttering service and enhances URL command support. Get an item link for the selected document via x-callback or add tags to newly created items. In addition, updating item counts is more reliable and the enhanced error log no longer truncates long entries.

We recommend this free update to all users. Update your copy through the App Store app or receive the update automatically, depending on your App Store settings.

What I really rally want in DTTG is the ability to edit tags for multiple documents at once. If we could select multiple documents and then edit tags it could be very effective and easy to use.

I accidentally activated the grid view. I there a way to deactivate it and go back to the list view again?

  3. @ Elias: Just select another document. The grid view is treated like a document view for a group.

  4. Elias says:

Ah, I see. It seems i forgot how it worked before and expected that before the list view was behaving just as the grid view is now..

In ios11, iPad Pro, the search box disappears once you press it to start typing a term to search. It is there but not visible, making search nearly impossible.

  6. @ Emilio Moreno: Thank you for the notice. However, reports like this are better made by email so that they don’t get lost in the blog comments.
